Nuovo Forno del Pane was established in 2020 at MAMbo - Museo d'Arte Moderna di Bologna to cope with the Covid-19 emergency and support the city's artistic community by offering a space for research and production.

After this innovative experience, on the initiative of the Città Metropolitana di Bologna and of the Comune di Bologna and thanks to the commitment of the Delegata alla Cultura Elena Di Gioia, Nuovo Forno del Pane Outdoor Edition originated in 2023, as a permanent action of the metropolitan cultural policy, aimed at artists from the national territory, which aims at supporting artistic production, fostering the formation of creative communities and the knowledge of the metropolitan city territory.

Nuovo Forno del Pane Outdoor Edition, now in its second edition, offers six artists, selected through a public call for proposals, the opportunity to develop individual and shared artistic projects by interacting with the territory that hosts them, thanks to a significant and active collaboration of Città Metropolitana’s cultural districts, manifested through the proposal of cultural initiatives and services.

Nuovo Forno del Pane Outdoor Edition is curated by Lorenzo Balbi, Caterina Molteni and Sabrina Samorì, and coordinated by Giulia Pezzoli with the collaboration of Cristina Ropa and Giovanna Trombetti, the Città Metropolitana Economic Development Area Manager.
